Updates?!?!?!!?

Sorry for the lack of updates lately.  I've been in the process of moving and I can now say hello from my apartment in sunny Torrance, California!  Hopefully I'll be able to get out on the course soon and be able to throw up a few reviews for the tracks around here.

Review - Crystal Lake CC

Crystal Lake.. there's not much to say, really.  If you're looking to play an average course for an average price with no nonsense, go here.  If you want to get out for a round to practice your game, do it here.  If you want to shoot your best round ever from the tips, this is your track.  You won't be disappointed but you won't be shitting yourself either.

Review - Keller Golf Course

Three words: old man course.  This place was built for old people.  If you hit the ball dead straight, 200 yards with your driver, you'll decimate this place.  If you can poke it out there 300 but you're even slightly errant, you're spending your day pitching into the fairway.

Review - St. Croix National

Ahh, St Croix National.  I think I've played this place at least 50 times.  I've told myself at least 10 of those times that I'm never going back.  Something you'll come to learn about me is that I hate so-called "shot-maker's holes".  You know, the type of par 5 where you have to hit a 4 iron off the tee to avoid the river running across the fairway at 240 yards.  The kind of hole where you then have to lay up into a little bowl as if the course is forcing you to play their beautiful 100-yard approach over water to an island green.  Or maybe the 280-yard par 4 where you have to hit a 160 yard drive and then hit over a 400-foot deep ravine to the green.

To hell with that.

Review - Troy Burne

Let's start this bad boy off with my personal favorite course, Troy Burne.  First of all, this is what I consider a "premium course".  When I say "premium course", besides the fact that I make the little gesture with my fingers, I mean that it's expensive.  On the plus side, their $75 twilight rate kicks in at 1pm on the weekend which is when I usually play.  On the negative, this will be by far my longest review because I get giddy every time I talk about this place.

Welcome to the Flogblog

The Flogblog.  What the hell is a flogblog?  Well, it's a hilarious name that I just came up with to share my thoughts about golf (flog backwards) because let's be honest.. if you don't have a blog, you're just not that important.  Someday I'll be getting myself a twitter account, but I'm not quite THAT important yet.  We'll upgrade to that when I get myself one of them newfangled iPhones that you have to buy every 6 months, but I digress.

Anyway, this is where I'll be sharing reviews of golf courses I play, mainly around the Twin Cities, MN since that's where I currently live.  I'll also be throwing up random golf-related thoughts that I feel the need to share.  Some details about me that will be pertinent to my reviews:

  • I golf approximately twice a week - one being my Thursday night Par 3 beer league and one being a weekend round
  • I'm a hack, but I'm trying to get better.. I usually shoot in the low-to-mid 80s
  • I usually play from the white tees because I usually play with people that shoot in the high 80s/90s, but I prefer the blues
  • I'm 26
  • I'm moving to California in October so I don't have to figure out how to relearn golf for a month every spring, which in turn will kill any readership I may have
  • Favorite courses
    • Troy Burne
    • Legends
    • White Eagle
  • I've never played a private track

So I guess that's it for now.  Hopefully all you readers out there are looking forward to some well-thought-out reviews incorporating my superb sense of humor.
